Gymnasium Prague 4

What we do differently

A graduate of the Prague Grammar School Nový PORG is ready to study at leading Czech and foreign universities. Heis a confident young person equipped for the challenges of professional, civic and personal life.

Focus of the school

The new PORG combines the requirements of the Czech grammar school curriculum with international programmes. Subjects are taught both in Czech and by approved native speakers in English. The unique system of study gives you the opportunity to choose to study abroad or in the Czech Republic.

International Baccalaureate

The new PORG has the official status of an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School (students of the grammar school are prepared not only to pass the standard Czech baccalaureate, but also to obtain the international IB Diploma certificate). The new PORG repeatedly achieves the best results in the IB Baccalaureate across the EU.

Advice for universities

We provide individualized counseling for admissions to foreign universities. We are by far the most successful Czech school in the admissions process to Oxford, Cambridge and top American universities.

Language learning

New PORG students regularly take the standardised Cambridge English language exams according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At the end of their studies, all of them will reach at least C1 (very advanced), most of them C2 (as a native speaker). In addition to English, you can also learn German, French, Spanish or Chinese.

Leisure activities

We offer a wide range of sports activities in the Krč area and we are one of the best equipped schools in the Czech Republic. School teams participate in competitions in basketball, floorball, athletics, orienteering and chess. Our pupils and students can also be found in piano or literary competitions.

Skills development

Important learning and communication skills are taught, for example, in the autumn project schools in the countryside. The end of each school year is usually marked by a parade of Quintana art classes, after which students from Krč, Libeň and Ostrava go together to summer schools in nature. On domestic and international expeditions they strengthen their sports and team spirit, get to know themselves, their classmates and their teachers in a new environment.

Safe environment

We are the only non-state school in the Czech Republic involved in the global bullying prevention programme Kiva. It is an innovative programme that has been developed through cutting-edge research in more than 1,000 schools in Finland and around the world.
