What we do differently

The non-profit Nový PORG primary school is a five-year primary school situated in Prague 4, Krč. The school regularly achieves excellent results with regards to SCIO, NIQES and Kalibro benchmarks.

  • Nový PORG is a Czech school with significantly expanded English lessons. The subject of English is taught from the first year and pupils also encounter English during music, art, and drama lessons. Courses in English are taught by native speakers.
  • We teach Czech life and institutions and Czech culture; Czech language is a mandatory subject.
  • In the first and second years, the class teacher has an assistant. Parents have the opportunity to follow the weekly lesson plans, which are available on the school's website and are regularly updated.
  • Parent-teacher meetings are organized for each pupil individually.
  • Exceptional communication with parents. The school uses a parental portal. Students are not only evaluated for their knowledge, but also for their approach (from the fourth year on). In addition, they get a verbal assessment.

There is an offering of interesting activities (within the after-school club) of over 80 different clubs in two age categories, which is included in the basic tuition fee.

Learning English

We measure English at PORG using standards of the Cambridge exams (KET to CPE) and then classify students according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR, Level A1 to C2). The following figure maps the level of English for students across school years.

(letter from the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic dated 5 June, 1990, file no. 17659/90-02)

PORG has been classified within the system of secondary schools by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports since 1990. This means, among other things, that all certificates issued by us have the same validity in relation to the state as a certificate from any other secondary school in the Czech Republic.

Tuition and scholarships

The annual tuition fee for Nový PORG grammar school is:

  • CZK 138,768,- CZK

Tuition includes all teaching aids, textbooks, and recreational activities.

The primary interest of the PORG public service company to provide the opportunity for gifted pupils to study regardless of their parents’ financial situation. The school has created a scholarship fund that grants scholarships for talented students from families whose financial situation does not allow them to pay full tuition fees. The Martin and Lenka Roman Foundation is one of the contributors to this fund. The scholarship is allocated on the basis of an individual assessment of the application; the study fund takes into account the family's income and financial standing. The scholarship is anonymous and discreet. For the future school year, the annual income of the family is set at CZK 1,000,000, namely the sum of the tax base of both parents, respectively, employed persons living with a child in a common household. Should more than one child from a family attend PORG, the scholarship may be awarded at even higher joint income earnings. The scholarship fund grants scholarships of up to 90% of tuition fees. If your financial situation gets worse during your studies, your scholarship may be granted from the date of such change. Continuing your studies in this case will not depend on your current financial situation. The scholarship can be applied for directly through the application form.

In proceedings for a scholarship, PORG will require, among other things:

  • a filled out application for the scholarship
  • if the parents are divorced, a copy of the court's decision on the property settlement of the spouses
  • a copy of the tax return of both parents or other gainfully employed persons living with the child in a common household

The study fund may request further documentation and information it considers necessary for its decision.
