Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (DELTA)
After graduating with a BA in Modern Languages, Eleanor took a teaching job in Spain, aiming to consolidate her Spanish as she also started her teaching career. While working there for four years, she received the Cambridge Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Eleanor then returned to her home town, Belfast, to take an MBA at Ulster University. She then moved to the Czech Republic, where she worked as an academic manager in a language school, and later as a teacher trainer on the Cambridge DELTA course. In 2017, she completed a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Leicester. Eleanor now specialises in preparing students for Cambridge examinations at all levels. She leads the team of Cambridge speaking examiners for the British Council and the University of Economics, and has written online workshop and teacher training materials for Cambridge ESOL. Her other specialist area is teaching academic writing. She has designed academic writing courses, and delivered workshops for PhD researchers to prepare their articles for publication in top international journals.
Free time activities include hiking in the picturesque Czech countryside, swimming, playing competitive bridge, and reading.
