COBIS Conference Speaks Louder Than Words

The COBIS Conference is an annual event which brings together head teachers and governers from schools all around the world. 
Organised by the Council of British International Schools, the COBIS Conference is an opportunity to attend presentations by leading educators, as well as talk and share experience with others.
Previous conferences invited participants to think about how we can evolve pedagogical practices. This year’s conference was titled ‚Louder Than Words‘ and challenged participants to explore and commit to meaningful action and practical steps to move education forward.
The goal is to improve best practice and provide children with the most effective educational tools possible so that they can think critically and continue learning throughout their lives.
As a COBIS Accredited Member, PORG International School was represented this year by our head teacher Mrs. Barbora Gazdová, who returned with many exciting ideas for our school’s future.
One of the major themes explored was Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in education. Rather than treating this new technology as a negative influence, the conference examined it as a tool, along with strategies to guide children in using it to assist learning as opposed to replacing it.
The COBIS Conference also aims to improve the wellbeing of educators and pupils as we navigate constant change in our lives. Mental health, pastoral care, leadership and reflection are aspects of education which are no longer neglected and conference attendees benefited from the latest knowledge and experience in these fields, bringing back tools to strengthen school teams.
On a final note, Mrs. Gazdová returned with an exciting new program aimed at developing the independence and resourcefulness of kids. Taking the concepts of a positive mindset and critical thinking, it provides children with a framework to build a true ‚can do‘ attitude from kindergarden to the end of Key Stage 2. It will be added to our school experience from September this year, so we will keep you updated as we focus on making our actions speak louder than words!
