https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HukvaldyEducation has a remarkable ability to connect people, and over the past few months our school community has experienced this in a truly special way.
The name of Leoš Janáček, one of the most important Czech composers and a leading figure of early 20th-century classical music, born in the nearby town of Hukvaldy, has been resonating throughout our school.
Our students had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the musical Leošek and the Magic Harmonium, written in English by Jaromír Návrat, Head of ZUŠ Leoše Janáčka.
This inspiring project brought together students from ZŠ Mitušova 16, ZUŠ Leoše Janáčka, and PORG International School. Working across schools, cultures, and nationalities, students collaborated using English as a shared language to create a truly memorable performance. Under the guidance of Drama Club teacher Matt Mayer, our students prepared and performed their segment of the production.
Watching young people collaborate, support one another, and perform with such enthusiasm was a powerful reminder that co-curricular activities are far more than an addition to school life; they are an essential part of it. Through experiences like this, students develop confidence, creativity, teamwork, and a deep respect for one another.
Above all, the project highlighted the unique power of music and the arts: their ability to transcend language and background, bringing people together through shared emotions and experiences.
Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Návrat for creating this wonderful opportunity and to ZŠ Mitušova 16 for hosting such a memorable event.
