British Embassy Pop-Up Event Brings a Taste of Britain to Ostrava

Our pupils had a very special opportunity to experience the spirit of Britain beyond the classroom – through culture, history, and shared community.

For many of the children, it was their first encounter with the world of diplomacy, including the memorable opportunity to meet His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Matt Field OBE.

Throughout the day, pupils enjoyed creative art and crafts, a treasure hunt, explored a double-decker bus, discovered a Second World War Spitfire, and met representatives of the British Council.

More than simply learning about Britain, our pupils were able to experience the values that sit at the heart of British education and society – respect, openness, curiosity, tolerance and a strong sense of community.

As a British international school, these values are part of our everyday school life. It was therefore especially meaningful for us to join an event that brought British culture so vividly to Ostrava and gave our pupils the opportunity to feel part of a wider British and international community.

We were proud not only to enjoy the British atmosphere, but also to help create and strengthen a genuine British presence and spirit in Ostrava.

Thank you to the British Embassy Prague, His Majesty’s Ambassador Matt Field OBE, the British Council, and everyone involved in making this such a memorable experience for our pupils and our city.
