Praxe
Throughout her teaching career, Edita has primarily taught Spanish at the bilingual programme of Budějovická Grammar School in Prague. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, she served as class teacher in the bilingual programme, organised language immersion programmes and competitions, and contributed to the preparation of the ENELE examination, which marks the completion of the intensive two-year language programme for students in Czech–Spanish bilingual education. She also values the experience she gained through close collaboration with native Spanish-speaking colleagues, regular professional development organised by the Embassy of Spain, and interpreting at diplomatic events.
English and Spanish have been the defining languages of both her academic and professional journey. She has pursued the study and teaching of both languages in a systematic and sustained way, and her further qualification in English language and English language pedagogy was a natural extension of her long-standing interest in the cultural and linguistic connections between the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking worlds. During her university studies, she explored these relationships in depth, culminating in her postgraduate thesis, Mexican American Cultural Identity in Literature.
In addition to Spanish and English, she studied Italian at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, where she obtained internationally recognised CILS language certificates awarded by the University for Foreigners of Siena. She also collaborates externally with Klett/Fraus Publishing, delivering professional development seminars, conference workshops, and webinars on contemporary approaches to teaching Spanish, including events organised by the Association of Language Schools, PraguELE, and the Czech Association of Teachers of Spanish.
She believes that every language offers a unique way of seeing the world. In her teaching, she therefore combines language with culture, encouraging students not to look for the right words alone, but also for the new connections and perspectives that language can reveal.
