On Friday, September 19, ten of the oldest members of the PORG Ostrava Debate Club (students from Tercie and Kvarta) visited the American Center in the Ostrava City Library to meet with David Wisner, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Prague.
Mr. Wisner shared insights into his career as a diplomat and spoke about the skills required to represent his country abroad. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about his professional path, daily responsibilities, and experiences living and working overseas.
The discussion highlighted the value of critical thinking, communication, and active listening. These are abilities that our debaters practice regularly. The event provided a valuable link between students’ debate training and real-world applications in international diplomacy.
We are grateful to the American Center Ostrava and the U.S. Embassy for making this enriching experience possible.
