PORG Debaters at the Debate League Tournament in Česká Třebová

From 13–15 February 2026, our students took part in the third English-language tournament of the 31st annual Debate League, held at Střední škola technická a dopravní Gustava Habrmana in Česká Třebová.

PORG Ostrava was proudly represented by two teams. The Tercie team consisted of Evelyn Halfarová, Thea Legerská, and Naomi Leaner. The Kvarta team included Tomáš Hladný, Martin Macek, and Zackary Minton.

Over the course of the weekend, students debated both for and against several challenging motions. These included questions such as whether sports teams should be held responsible for the violent actions of their fans, whether the idealisation of youth brings more harm than good, and whether the development of lethal autonomous weapons causes more harm than benefit. The last motion was the prepared topic for the tournament.

As always, the tournament required not only strong argumentation skills, but also teamwork, quick thinking, and the ability to respond calmly under pressure. Our students demonstrated commitment, courage, and steady improvement throughout the competition.

We are proud of both teams for representing our school with dedication and enthusiasm. Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and effort! M. Minton
