From April 9th to 12th, a group of 14 students from PORG Ostrava (Kvarta, Sexta, and Oktava), accompanied by PORG teacher Mr. Minton, took part in PORGMUN 2026, an international Model United Nations conference held in Prague.
PORGMUN is a student-led conference that brings together over 300 participants from across the world. It simulates the work of the United Nations, giving students the opportunity to represent different countries, debate global issues, negotiate solutions, and develop their communication and critical thinking skills.
The conference began at the Municipal House with an opening ceremony that set a formal and inspiring tone for the days ahead. From there, students moved to the Prague Congress Centre, where committee sessions took place. Over the following days, our students fully immersed themselves in the roles of diplomats – delivering speeches, engaging in debates, forming alliances, and working together to draft resolutions.
While the process of diplomacy proved to be complex and sometimes challenging, students quickly adapted. They demonstrated confidence, creativity, and persistence, even when discussions became demanding or unpredictable. Alongside the formal debates, the conference also included lighter moments, from informal networking to social events, helping participants build friendships across cultures.
A highlight of the conference was the gala evening at Martinic Palace, where students had the chance to celebrate their achievements in a more relaxed setting.
Beyond the formal structure of debates and resolutions, PORGMUN offered something more valuable: the experience of working through disagreement, listening to others, and continuing the conversation even when solutions were not easy.
We are proud of all our students for representing our school with enthusiasm and dedication:
