Praxe

Melody first discovered her love for teaching in 2015 as a high school instructor at a grammar school in Košice, Slovakia. Through teaching English and geography, she discovered a passion for teaching both language and the high school age group. After 2 years in Slovakia, she moved back to the US in 2017 for 15 months and taught Chinese students online as well as Japanese students studying abroad in the US. She also began her hybrid Master’s degree in TESOL and moved to the Czech Republic in 2018. Upon completion of her master’s degree in 2020, she began working as a teacher trainer in a TEFL teacher training program and a post-secondary head teacher at a language school: supervising and training a team of 40 teachers. She has presented at the P.A.R.K. Conference for English teachers in Brno and given English language teaching seminars for the Descartes Educational Agency as well as seminars for high schools around the Czech Republic. She continuously seeks to improve her education skills and qualifications; her latest achievement is becoming a certified Cambridge Speaking Examiner in 2023. She is delighted to continue her teaching career in the high school classroom at PORG.

Zájmy

In her spare time, Melody enjoys hiking, singing, reading, cooking, and traveling. Her favorite hiking destination so far is Mount Teide on Tenerife. She sings in the Rainbow Gospel Choir in Prague and loves all concerts where she has performed, but her favorite is always the choir’s annual Christmas concert. She is a member of a book club which explores American, Czech, and other international authors; one of her favorite books is The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers.
