Praxe

After university, Laura wanted to see more of the world; teaching abroad seemed to be an ideal way to work, travel and explore new cultures. She started her TEFL career in Vietnam, it was there she decided to specialize in teaching children and therefore she completed the Young Learners Extension to CELTA. After eighteen months of noodles, motorbikes and sometimes obscene heat, Laura moved to the Czech Republic with only a view to stay one year, almost eight years later she is still here. Throughout her time in the Czech Republic, Laura has worked at both language and state schools, honing her skills as a Young Learner teacher. Throughout her teaching career, Laura has taken on other roles such as: Assistant Director of Studies, Teacher Trainer for the International House Certificate in Young Learners (IH CYLT) and as a Cambridge Speaking Examiner for the Cambridge Exam Suite. Laura has often spent summers in London, Cardiff and the South Coast of the UK, teaching young learners from around the world. Laura is new to Novy Porg, and she’s been enjoying the challenge of implementing her knowledge and experience into a new and exciting setting.

In her free time, Laura enjoys grappling with the Czech language and its many cases, trying to grow as many vegetables as possible on her window sill, and listening to podcasts.
